We invite you to a people’s intergenerational and multiracial community event on the evening of the 50th Anniversary of the end of the war in Southeast Asia and Việt Nam’s independence. We hope this is a night of culture, political education & powerful stories to honor the 50th anniversary of the U.S. military’s forced departure and international struggle for self-determination and freedom.
The U.S. war in Việt Nam and Southeast Asia was one of the most important historical events of the 20th century. It brings to light the heroic struggle of Việt Southeast Asian people against foreign aggression, particularly the United States of America.
This gathering is on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 6-9PM at Eastside Arts Alliance & Cultural Center at 2277 International Boulevard, Oakland. The event is free, and donations welcome.
Our purpose and central themes:
Deepen our understanding of the last 50 years: honor the history and significance of people’s struggles for independence and against imperial domination rooted in this war and all who was part of this movement history, including anti-war comrades and allies
Uplift what’s happening now and activate the next 50 years and beyond: Hear from movement leaders and learn with each other how the anti-war resistance of the 1960’s and 70’s connects today and how the current strategy of the U.S. empire is impacting oppressed peoples around the world and how we can mobilize, organize, and be in solidarity with one another during this time
Share our stories and celebrate one another through music, art, screenprinting, food, dialogue, and more.
We’re an intergenerational and multiracial coalition of community organizers, activists, educators and artists. We’re members of: Eastside Arts Alliance, Freedom Archives, GABRIELA USA, Palestinian Youth Movement, QTViệt Cafe Collective, Union of Vietnamese.
